How We Came To Be
The Terry Riney Agency was established by Terry Riney in Spring 2005. It would become a family-owned and operated business when later that year Terry’s son, Blaine Riney, joined the small agency. We had humble beginnings, but were destined for great things.
A Lot Can Change In 14 Years
A small agency no more! We started 2019 with seven team members and have moved our office twice to get more space. We have also grown our agency revenue more than 10-fold. Although we started out small and not well known, we now can say that the Riney name and insurance go hand-in-hand in Moore County, NC. We are not only well known, but we are respected by consumers and competitors in our area. We continue to grow primarily by word-of-mouth, which we believe is a testament to the confidence our clients have in us.
A Little About the Riney Family
The Rineys are originally from Kansas. Terry’s dad, C. Dean Riney, started an independent insurance agency in Liberal, KS, in 1957. Terry joined that agency in 1974 and worked there with his dad and two brothers for many years.
In 2003, Terry and his wife, Nancy, moved to Pinehurst, NC. One of Terry’s good friends in high school, Tom Graber, went into the golf business. One of Tom’s first jobs out of college was as a club professional in Pinehurst (a dream destination for people in the golf business). Terry visited Tom many times over the years, making golf trips to the Pinehurst area. Terry and wife Nancy quickly fell in love with the Pinehurst weather, the great golf courses, the pine trees, the friendly people and the list goes on and on…
They started dreaming of moving there one day. The dream eventually became reality, and it has turned out to be even better personally and professionally than they could have ever imagined.

One of our best assets is our relationship with Erie Insurance. We became an Erie agent in 2005 and since then we have grown with the company by leaps and bounds!
